NORWALK — 11:16 a.m., Jan. 2 — — Democrat George Mays is the first candidate to file to appear on the March Primary ballot for the 5th Congressional District. Mays, of Norwalk, was defeated by Democrat Robin Weirauch in last fall’s primary to fill the seat vacated after the death of Rep. Paul Gillmor. Bob Latta, R-Bowling Green, won the seat over Weirauch last month. Mays, who owns a karaoke and disc jockey business, says his platform is based on simple common sense. An example, a press release said Wednesday, is the federal government spending more money that it receives. The deadline for filing for the primary is Friday. You can comment on this story at www.limaohio.com.
