CELINA — A man wanted in a murder case who was captured last week after nearly two months on the run was ordered held without bail Monday.

Daniel C. Martin, 40, was scheduled for an arraignment Jan. 25 in Mercer County Common Pleas Court. The hearing will be Martin’s first chance to answer the charge.

Martin is charged with murder in the Nov. 8 slaying of Melinda S. Shinn, 26. She was shot and killed inside her Rockford home at 509 North St., while her 9-year-old son was inside the house.

Martin, who was believed to be Shinn’s live-in boyfriend, became a suspect early on and ran away after her death. Authorities found him last week in Fort Wayne, Ind.
