LIMA ó A 25-year-old man was being held on suspicion of murder Tuesday one day after a woman was found beaten to death inside her home.
Hager Church, of Lima, was in custody charged in the death of 49-year-old Debra Henderson at her home at 619 Woodward Ave. The two were acquaintances, Lima Police Lt. Jim Baker said.
An autopsy Tuesday revealed Henderson died as the result of being struck in the head, Baker said.
One of Hendersonís children found her about 10 a.m. Monday in a pool of blood, officials said.
Baker declined to discuss a motive or what was used to beat Henderson. He also declined to elaborate on how the two knew each other.
Church became a suspect Monday and was arrested late in the day. He is expected to appear in court at a bond hearing sometime this week, Baker said.
Henderson had been a victim of crime in the past. She was severely raped and assaulted in December 2004 by a 13-year-old boy during a home invasion, police said.
Hendersonís slaying was the cityís first homicide of the year.
