Flash flood watch in effect in region

LIMA - The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana issued a flash flood watch in effect from late this afternoon through tonight.

Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms could pass through the area this afternoon through tonight, producing torrential rainfall amounts. Rates of 1 to 4 inches per hour are possible. The risk for flash flooding will increase dramatically tonight. Total rainfall could be 2 to 5 inches.

The watch is in effect from 6 p.m. today through Thursday morning for Allen, Putnam and Van Wert counties.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington also issued a hazardous weather outlook for the southern portion of the coverage area, including Auglaize, Hardin, Mercer, Logan and Shelby counties, expecting severe thunderstorms this evening with the possibility of large hail. Isolated tornadoes are possible.
