LIMA — A Columbus man died of a gunshot to the head while another man received a nonlife-threatening gunshot wound in a Sunday night shooting, police said Monday.Isiah Smith, 19, of Columbus, died at 11 p.m. Sunday from a gunshot to the head. He was pronounced dead at St. Rita's Medical Center, said Sgt. Paula Strickler of the Lima Police Department.A second man, Santario Simpson, 35, of Lima, was shot in the leg. His injury was not life-threatening, but he remained in the hospital Monday evening, Strickler said.Officers arrested 18-year-old Deshawn Porter, of Lima, in connection with the shooting. He has been charged with suspicion of felonious assault, but more charges were expected, Strickler said.Police officers responded just before 8 p.m. Sunday to a shooting at the coroner of West High Street and North Kenilworth Avenue. Officers arriving at the site found two people shot. The incident happened outside. The shooting remained under investigation late Monday, said Maj. Tony Swygart, of the Lima Police Department.Investigators were continuing to interview witnesses and anyone with information on the slaying in hopes of learning a motive, he said.Swygart said it was too early in the investigation to release any information in regards to a motive.Smith's death was the city's third homicide of the year.
