LIMA — Eight of the 16 people police arrested in a major drug bust last month have been charged.
JaJuan Godsey, Charles Godsey, Deonte White and Davohn Godsey, all face various drug charges in federal court. Kimberly Godsey, Amber Godsey, Basil Henderson and Jamekia Sorrels, all face drug charges in state court, according to court records.
Only Sorrels has been released on bond.
Meanwhile, Maurice Sims, Sean Johnson, Kencar McGee, Larry Nathan, Michael Woolfork Jr., Isaac Gilcrease, Santana Gipson and Greg Tyson have not been charged in state or federal court.
Allen County Prosecutor Juergen Waldick said the investigation is ongoing in the case and it’s not unusual for a case this big to not have charges on everyone at this point. Those who have not been charged likely would be out of jail, also, Waldick said.
Lima Police, the Allen County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI announced the arrest of 16 people following a two-year investigation into the illegal sales of crack cocaine and powder cocaine by a group they called “The Godsey Organization.”
Police estimated the group put tens of thousands of dollars of illegal drugs onto the streets each year.
Authorities have no way of saying how much drugs the group allegedly pumped into the city since they have no way of tracking the drugs that are here.
Sheriff Sam Crish said Friday his agents may eventually learn how big of dent the bust made as they gather information from other investigations but it’s still too early to tell.
