COLUMBUS — A local appellate court judge is scheduled to sit on the state’s highest court today as a visiting judge.
Third District Court of Appeals Judge Stephen Shaw will sit on the Ohio Supreme Court as a visiting judge for oral arguments in a Summit County case. Shaw will sit in place of Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor, who recused herself from a case that looks at whether a pardon by the governor automatically entitles an offender to have her conviction sealed.
O’Connor is a former Summit County judge and prosecutor, which created a conflict of interest.
Shaw is a 1975 graduate of Ohio Northern University Law School and was elected to the 3rd District in 1986.
