WAPAKONETA ‚?? A Lima woman died late Sunday after the vehicle in which she was riding drove through an apparently snow-covered stop sign and into the path of an approaching van. Vivian E. Adams, 87, was a passenger in a 2000 Buick LeSabre that went through the stop sign at state Route 501 and Buckland-Holden Road at 10:10 p.m. Sunday. Troopers from the Wapakoneta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said weather appeared to be a factor. ‚??A recent snow had completely covered the stop sign at the intersection,‚?Ě said Lt. J.S. Carrico, of the Wapakoneta post. The driver of the car, Arnold D. Farley, 65, of Lima, and another passenger, Beverly Farley, 63, of Lima, were treated, then released from St. Rita‚??s Medical Center. The car, traveling east on Buckland-Holden Road, missed the stop sign and traveled right into the path of a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country minivan that was traveling north on state Route 501. Two passengers in the van, Ella Hoelscher, 61, of Lima, and Minnie Boss, 55, of Sidney, were also treated, then released from St. Rita‚??s. The driver of the van, William J. Hoelscher, 65, of Lima, was not taken to the hospital for treatment. Wapakoneta rescue squad took Adams and the four others to the hospital, where Adams later died.
