LIMA — A Lima man appeared for his final pre-trial Friday in Allen County Common Pleas Court at in front of Judge Richard Warren.

William Purdy, 38, of 505 S. Roberts Ave., is accused of raping a girl under the age of 10 during a period from Jan. 28, 2005, to Oct. 25, 2005, according to court records.

He is charged with six counts of rape with life specification and two counts of gross sexual imposition. The life specification is due to the girl being under the age of 10.

At the final pre-trial, he waived a jury and Warren set Purdy’s trial for Oct. 22.

Trisha L. Steele, 31, pleaded guilty to one count of rape on Sept. 12 to drop the life specification on the original charge and the other two counts of rape she faced. As part of the deal, she agreed to cooperate with the prosecution in the case against Purdy, her co-defendant.
