Wapakoneta woman killed while trying to collect mail

WAPAKONETA - A 90-year-old woman was killed Thursday morning after she was hit by a car driven by a 19 year old.


Carolyn M. Blackburn, of Wapakoneta, was apparently trying to collect her mail in front of her house when she was hit by a car driven by a 19 year old, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.


A dispatcher said she was in front of her home when she was hit. Her home is listed as 803 Glynwood Drive, according to the Auglaize County Auditor’s website.


Blackburn’s obituary states that she died in a “single car accident in front of her residence.”


According to her obituary, friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta, where arrangements are incomplete.
