OAKWOOD — Some emergency crews in Putnam County were called in to help with a very peculiar rescue mission last week — to pull a fire truck from the Auglaize River.
The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. Friday when Oakwood firefighters were testing equipment that failed on the job the evening before. It’s unclear how exactly the truck became submerged in the water, but what is certain is that the fire truck was ruined from the incident. Oakwood Fire Department has four other trucks in its fleet.
A dive team from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office assisted in pulling the truck from the water.
