CRIDERSVILLE — An 11-year-old girl was in deep trouble Monday after she was caught on camera dropping a written bomb threat at Cridersville Elementary School.

“This is not a joke. You cannot make jokes like this. It’s not funny,” Cridersville Police Chief John Drake said.

The case is being turned over to the Auglaize County Prosecutor’s Office for charges, Drake said.

The girl was suspended from school after the note was discovered at 7:45 a.m. at the school on Reichelderfer Road.

The school has about 325 students, but not all students had arrived. Students were sent home until the school reopened at 10:30 a.m. after the bomb squad swept the inside and outside, Drake said.

Another student found the note that said the school was going to be blown up, Drake said.

“We were able to pull the video and see who placed the note. During an interview, this afternoon, that student did admit to it,” Drake said.

But the girl never said why she did it.

“It was unclear what her reason was,” he said.
