LIMA Just a day after confirming one school-aged pupil battled the H1N1 flu, county health officials this morning said testing confirmed a second school-aged pupil has also battled and recovered from the illness.

David Rosebrock, Allen County health commissioner, told the county health board this morning that a friend of the first pupil had also come down the virus. Both pupils have since recovered and are back at school, he said.

Jeff Price, superintendent of Delphos City Schools, confirmed this morning that both cases involve pupils at Delphos Jefferson Middle School. Price said the district has sent home a letter to parents informing them of the situation.

Price said the district continues to do everything possible to limit the exposure to the virus, including disinfecting surfaces, putting hand sanitizer in classrooms and encouraging staff and pupils to stay home if they are sick.

The district has noted a 10 percent increase in absences recently at the high school and middle school, he said. So far, only two cases have been confirmed as H1N1 virus.
