OTTOVILLE — A Sunday afternoon automobile accident in Putnam County hospitalized four people.

Lauren Koch, of Fort Jennings, was driving north on Road 23Q at about 4 p.m. Sunday when she stopped at the stop sign and then entered the intersection, failing to see a westbound vehicle driven by Dwight D. Heitmeyer on state Route 189, according to officials with the Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Heitmeyer’s vehicle traveled off the north side of the road and hit an Ottoville Mutual Telephone phone box. Heitmeyer and passenger Michelle Heitmeyer were taken to St. Rita’s Hospital.

Koch and passenger Megan Bendele, of Ottoville, were taken to Ottawa Care Center.

Medical conditions of those involved were unavailable Monday evening.

Koch was cited for failure to yield.
