2 women injured in crash

Two women were treated at hospitals Friday for injuries in connection with a two-vehicle crash.The crash was reported at 2:50 p.m at the intersection of state Route 65 and Road 7. Christine Newman of Ottawa was driving south on state Route 65 when she attempted to turn left onto Road 7. She was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by Chelsey Wright of Leipsic, who also was driving south on state Route 65, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office reported.Both women were taken to hospitals although it appeared at the scene each had minor injuries, the sheriff's office reported.A woman answering the phone at the St. Rita's Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center hung up the phone when asked about Newman's condition. Wright remained at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima where she still was being evaluated early evening, a nursing supervisor said. The crash remained under investigation.
