TOLEDO The woman who crashed her car into a crowd at a Rally in the Square last year has filed bankruptcy.

Linda Booth filed for bankruptcy in U.S. District Court in Toledo, which could allow her to discharge claims stemming from the accident. She filed a lawsuit earlier this year to try to limit her liability to those who may sue her for injuries related to the accident. Booth said she only has $25,000 in liability coverage for anyone who files a lawsuit to go after.

Booth and her insurance company named 41 people who could file claims. The bankruptcy puts the lawsuit on hold.

The incident injured 27 people during a June 15, 2012, rally. She was pulling into a parking space at the time. Lima Police Chief Kevin Martin said it was likely Booth accidently hit the accelerator instead of the brake. She was cited for reasonable control.

Booth also appeared at Lima Municipal Court on Friday to plead guilty to failure to file required report and improper backing, both minor misdemeanors, in connection with another accident. She was fined $75.

That accident was on Jan. 30. She backed into another car on North Main Street and drove away without reporting the accident. The driver of the other car reported her license plate number to police.
