WAPAKONETA — Police arrested an 18-year-old man after shots were fired outside an apartment building during the weekend.

No one was injured.

Officers arrested Zachariah A. Huddleston, of 1 Perry St., Apt. 47, shortly after they arrived at the scene where he lived. Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area at 8:18 p.m. Friday, the Wapakoneta Police Department reported.

An investigation revealed a man fired three shots out his apartment window. Police arrested Huddleston and charged him with having a gun under a court sanction. He has pleaded guilty to a drug trafficking charge, officers said.

Police recovered a .38-caliber revolver and ammunition inside Huddleston’s apartment, officers reported.

The shooting remained under investigation Monday, Wapakoneta Police Chief Russ Hunlock said.

“We are still trying to figure out the circumstances as to who he was shooting at and why. He claims he did it to scare someone that was threatening him,” Hunlock said.

Huddleston said he bought the gun off an unknown person in Lima, Hunlock said.
