Writers, artists win Buckeye Creativity awards

LIMA - Young Allen County writers and artists were honored Tuesday at the 11th annual Buckeye Creativity Awards event.

Students were recognized for excellence in poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction and art. They won gift cards and scholarship vouchers to OSU-Lima. The event is sponsored by the Lima Breakfast Optimists, the Lima Noon Optimists and OSU- Lima. Judges are all OSU-Lima faculty members.

The winner in the freshman/sophomore division was Kennedy Sharp, of Spencerville High School, for her photograph “Twins.” The winner in the junior/senior division was Victorian Sullivan, of Lima Senior High School, for her poem “Until You Told Me.”

The competition received 940 entries from 13 Allen County high schools. More than 100 entries will be published in OSU-Lima’s online literary journal “Hog Creek Review.” A complete list of Buckeye Creativity Award Winners and the 2013 issue is available online at
