LIMA — The Lima News and Bluffton University again will sponsor the Leaders of Tomorrow program, honoring junior and senior high school students for leadership through community volunteerism, academic success and extracurricular activities.

High school guidance counselors in the region can nominate up to three juniors and three seniors for the honor. Finalists will receive $100, and the winner will receive $1,000. Bluffton University hosts an awards dinner May 13 to recognize all nominees and finalists.

“It’s an honor for Bluffton University to sponsor this program and honor and celebrate youth for their service,” university spokeswoman Robin Bowlus said.

High schools in the region have received information regarding nominations, and nomination forms are also available at Bluffton University, The Lima News and LimaOhio.com.

This marks the 10th year of the program. Since the program began, nearly 1,000 students have been recognized for their achievements.

“The program highlights leadership roles our youth play in the community,” The Lima News Marketing Director Bill Clinger said. “Their hard work often goes unnoticed, and we want to recognize young people for what they do.”
