Woman arrested for inducing panic

SIDNEYA 53-year-old woman was taken into custody after a standoff with officers Saturday night.Deputies responded to 9868 Kuther Road about 9 p.m. to check on the woman who was possibly having mental health problems, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. The deputies made contact with the woman, who was “very agitated.” Over the phone, they heard her chamber a round into a handgun.The woman came out of the house with a handgun and shouted at the deputies before returning to the house. The Sidney-Piqua-Shelby Tactical Response Team and two negotiators arrived and phone contact with the woman continued for about three hours. She came out of the house unarmed shortly after midnight and sat on her front porch, where officers apprehended her without incident. She was taken to the Shelby County Jail and a mental health professional was contacted to evaluate her. The woman was charged with inducing panic and resisting arrest.
