ELIDA ó Both Elida High School and the elementary school will have new principals next school year.



High School Principal Greg Leeth is leaving to become the seventh- through 12th-grade principal at Wayne Trace schools, where he started his career as a teacher. Elementary Principal Faith Cummings will retire.



The school board on Tuesday hired Shawnee Middle School Principal Tony Cox to take over at the high school. He has been at Shawnee since 1999, first as a middle school teacher. He became assistant principal in 2001 and was appointed principal in 2005. He started his career teaching at Toledo Public Schools.



Superintendent Don Diglia said he expects to start interviewing for the elementary job in the coming weeks and have someone hired within the next month.



Cummings served as elementary principal from 1994 to 2005 and again this school year. Between those times, she was the districtís No Child Left Behind director, handling curriculum and professional development. Cummings previously worked for the Allen County Educational Service Center. She began her career teaching at Delphos St. Johnís School, St. Gerard Catholic School and Elida.



Leeth served as high school principal for a year. He was assistant principal the two previous years. He spent 16 years teaching at Lincolnview schools.
