OTTAWA — A Pandora woman was seriously injured following a car-tractor crash Monday night.

Nancy J. Kline, 57, the editor of the Lima News-owned Putnam Voice, was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center with serious injuries, where she is in stable condition, the Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.

Kline was westbound on U.S. Route 224 just after 6 p.m. Monday near mile post 23 when her 2002 Ford Focus struck a 1965 John Deere tractor, driven by Mark A. Hempfling, 50, of Ottawa. He was also driving westbound at a very slow speed.

Troopers reported the crash caused severe damage to Kline’s car. She was trapped inside the car for 15 minutes and had to be extricated from the car.

Ottawa EMS and Heavy Rescue assisted at the scene, as well as deputies from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

Kline was cited for failing to maintain an assured clear distance, and Hempfling was cited for an equipment violation.
