LIMA — A man with a long history of crime is in custody charged with stabbing his ex-girlfriend and the man he found her with.
Lonnie Rader, 42, of 1710 Rice Ave., is charged with felonious assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held in jail in lieu of bail. Rader has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Tuesday at Lima Municipal Court.
The stabbings happened early Saturday in a trailer at 134 Bellwood Drive on the city’s west side, Lima Police Department Lt. Jim Baker said.
Tiffini Fisher, 38, and Chad Esmonde, 42, both were stabbed during the incident. Fisher is Rader’s former girlfriend, Baker said.
“He forced entry into the trailer and then immediately started assaulting both of them with a knife. They were both stabbed with a knife multiple times,” Baker said.
The two were taken to the hospital where they were treated, then released. Injuries were not life threatening, Baker said.
After the stabbings, Rader stole Fisher’s car and drove away. A detective with Rader’s telephone number called him and surprisingly was able to get a hold of him and talk him into turning himself in, Baker said.
Rader has 115 criminal or traffic cases that have been filed at Lima Municipal Court since 1989.
