Ada man leaves infant home alone to go out drinking

ADA ó A young father left his 8-month-old daughter home alone to go to a local bar Friday night into Saturday, Ada Police Department reported today.



A concerned person called Ada police around 1 a.m. Saturday, reporting PhillipSmealleft his infant daughter alone at the residence. When officers arrived, they found the door ajar and went inside, announcing their presence. Police then found the 8-month-old child asleep in the crib; no one else was in the home.



Upon further investigation, officers found Smeal standing in front of Jon and Toniís Lounge in downtown Ada. When asked if he knew where his child was, Phillip stated she was home in the crib. Phillip admitted to officers he drank 10 beers and five shots of alcohol that evening.



Officers with the Ada Police Department for Child Endangerment arrested Smeal. Smeal has a court date Monday at Hardin County Municipal Court.



The mother is currently taking care of the child. Hardin County Children Services has also been notified of the incident.
