DANA HOUSTON, LimaI would like to send my condolence to the family of Tarika Wilson, and my thoughts for the family of the officer involved in the recent shooting. This incident has caused undue stress on our community. We must be patient, and let the legal process take its course. I understand the frustration it has caused.I’ve followed the news, and attended the meetings at the church and the Civic Center. And I have come to the concussion this is not a racial issue between community members as a whole. There are frustrations stemming from this incident, and experiences with some members of the local law enforcement agencies. My advice is to don’t punish the mass, for the actions of a selected few. It’s a sad picture when, as of this writing, we only had a few days until Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday, and you have black members and leaders marching like the old black revolutionary period in America. What happened to the ways of King and the reason he died? If you feel you need to march, do it his way.We, as African-Americans, have taken many steps forward, but then it appears we take many steps backward because of the actions of a few.I agree there needs to be changes in the community in some areas. Those who don’t live in Lima, and truly don’t know what goes on here, really don’t need to be writing, making comments about issues they know nothing about. The Rev. Bob Horton is right: There is a group within the black community (and the non-black) rushing to judgment. The only ones that truly know what happen that day, are all the individuals in that home during the raid. For all others, be patient.
