Bicyclist dies after struck by Fort Jennings motorist

PORT CLINTON - A 37-year-old man was killed today when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a car on Wilcox Road near this Ottawa County community, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.


Dale Tusen, of Port Clinton, was pronounced dead at the scene in Bay Township, according to the patrol's Sandusky post. He wore a helmet, according to the patrol.


Troopers said Tusen was westbound on Wilcox about 5:55 a.m. when his bicycle was struck in the rear by a car driven by Michael Swint, 68, of Fort Jennings, who was also westbound on the road.


The crash remained under investigation, with no citations issued yet, troopers said.


Port Clinton, the seat of Ottawa County, is about 40 miles east of Toledo.
