FINDLAY - Findlay police Thursday were looking for a man who they said refused to stop after a traffic violation in Findlay, then led area law enforcement agents on a vehicle chase to a cornfield near Fostoria, ditched his pickup truck, and escaped on foot.

About 12:40 a.m. Thursday, authorities reported they tried and failed to stop a pickup for an alleged traffic violation on County Road 236 near Heatherwood Drive.

A 17-minute pursuit ensued via four county roads, ending in a cornfield about 13.5 miles away, west of Fostoria and just east of 21370 County Road 226, according to police.

Findlay police said the man then drove about 1,400 feet northeast through the cornfield and fled on foot.

A search by Hancock County police, Ohio Highway Patrol, and a Fostoria police canine unit did not find the man, authorities said.

Local and wire reports.
