KENTON - One man was taken to a local hospital after he was shot in the leg Saturday night in Kenton.

Right after 9 p.m. Saturday, a Kenton police officer was flagged down on West Walnut Street, and a resident advised him that some sort of altercation was taking place in a pickup truck parked on the street.

The officer turned his car around to stop the pickup truck, when the driver fled in the truck. The officer said the truck stopped in front of a residence on West Walnut Street, and the people inside the truck ran into the house.

The officer followed them and discovered a man inside the truck had been shot in the leg. Two people were charged with disorderly conduct at an emergency, and the shooting victim was taken to a nearby hospital and released a few hours after the incident, Kenton Police Department reported.

The shooting victim was subsequently taken into custody pending the filing of felony charges, according to the police department.

An investigation revealed the shooting happened at a different location. Kenton Police were assisted by the Hardin County Task Force, Hardin County Sheriff’s Office as well as Ohio BCI. The police department continues to investigate the incident.
