LIMA — Volunteers and members stepped forward to help the Knights of Columbus reopen the bar and restaurant next week at its South Cable Road location.
The Loyalty Club board of the Knights of Columbus Council 2661 unanimously voted to re-open the club side of the Family Center.
“A large number of members have stepped forward to volunteer and help with this process,” Greg Stolly wrote in a press release.
The group closed the bar and restaurant side May 20. Council leaders cited financial problems and said they hoped to reopen the club soon.
Apparently soon is next week. The club will reopen for members from 3 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays and 3 p.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays. On Sundays, the patio only will open, featuring half-chicken dinners with a drive-thru option.
A light menu will be available on the open days from 4 to 8 p.m. The club will also be open for special meal nights, including its Lenten fish fries.
The schedule roughly mimics its schedule before it closed, as the bar and restaurant side closed on Mondays and Tuesdays before the two-month closure.
Throughout the short closure, the banquet room honored bookings already made.
The Knights of Columbus opened the 20,000-square foot, $1.2 million facility in March 2004. Just southwest of Lima Central Catholic High School, the facility was labeled a gathering place for Catholic families.
