LIMA A fire that broke out Thursday night resulted in halted traffic but no injuries, Lima fire officials said.

Lima Fire Department responded around 8 p.m. to a fire at North Jameson Avenue and West Wayne Street. Battalion Chief Greg Kirkendall said all occupants were able to escape the duplex unharmed.

The more damaged half of the duplex was 940 W. Wayne St.; the other half was listed as 400 N. Jameson Ave. Kirkendall said a preliminary investigation revealed the fire originated in the stairwell between the second and third floors of the duplex. He said officials found faulty electrical wiring they thought had been burning for a while before flames erupted.

Traffic was stopped briefly on North Jameson Avenue, Kirkendall said, but fire officials soonwere able to reopen a southbound lane. Firefighters were still on scene as of 10 p.m. Thursday.
