AMERICAN TOWNSHIP — A problem with a locomotive stopped a freight train across two busy intersections Tuesday morning, blocking traffic for several hours.
A dispatcher at the Allen County Sheriff’s Office said the Chicago, Fort Wayne & Eastern Railroad train broke down before 7 a.m. Tuesday. Railcars blocked the crossing at Eastown and East roads.
The Sheriff’s Office contacted the rail company, which sent a crew to repair the engine.
Calls to the Chicago, Fort Wayne & Eastern Railroad were not returned Tuesday.
The Sheriff’s Office said the company could not be cited for blocking the crossings.
The train was moved out of the way by 11 a.m.
