LIMA -- The trial for a councilman accused of threatening an editor at The Lima News has been pushed back by a month.

April 16 is the new trial date set for Lima's 1st Ward Councilman Ray Magnus, who is charged with aggravated menacing, menacing and three counts of persistent disorderly conduct. All charges are misdemeanors with the case being handled through Lima Municipal Court.

The Lima News Editorial-Page Editor Ron Lederman filed a police report in October saying 58-year-old Magnus threatened him with bodily harm because of an item Lederman posted on his blog concerning Magnus' residency.

The reported threat was made as Lederman and Magnus entered a meeting at the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks lodge on Oct. 20. Lederman told police Magnus repeated the threat several times.
