LIMA — Under new ownership, five local radio stations most likely will have a new home in downtown Lima’s Town Square come summer.

“It’s very exciting,” said Matt Childers, president of Childers Media Group. “I think once people see the infrastructure of the inside of the property downtown, they’re really going to fall in love with the new group.”

A longtime Maverick Media employee, Childers bought the stations from the company in March. Remodeling at the former Ohio State Beauty Academy building at 53 and 57 Town Square began in January.

Childers said the move is pending FCC approval of the radio station transfer, which can take 120 days. He’s hoping to have the radio station employees move from their North Cable Road office in late June or early July.

“The downtown is the core of what west central Ohio is,” Childers said. “We’re making a major investment in the community, and we hope that’s reciprocated back to us” through local support and a further reach.

The location also will showcase the stations to the public, he said.

Childers Media Group owns 92.1 The Frog WFGF, 93.1 The Fan WWSR, 107.1 WDOH, 104.9 The Eagle WEGE and 940 WCIT.
