LIMA — Donald E. Zlotnik, of Lima, has served in the military special forces and retired, worked in the corporate world of General Dynamics and retired, worked at a foster care agency, opened his own foster care agency, closed his own foster care agency, has authored 10 regular books and just signed a contract for 10 additional e-books.

He is originally from Michigan, but now calls Lima his home.

“All of my books have been from real life experiences,” Zlotnik said. “I love it. I love story telling.

“It was not easy, as I never took a writing course or typing course, but it worked out,” he added.

His first book “Eagles Cry Blood” was published in 1986.

“This book helped me through some tough times,” he said.

He then wrote the “Survivor of Nam" series, which is a four-book series, and contains the same characters in all four books. Zlotnik originally wrote this as one big book, but the publisher decided to split the book into four parts.

After the “Survivor of Nam" series was his “Fields of Honor” series, which is about Medal of Honor recipients, based on Zlotnik’s real-life friends.

Zlotnik came to live in Lima while working for a foster care agency.

“I wanted to pay back, and help kids,” he said.

That led him to open his own agency and he realized quickly that was a mistake. His book, “Emotional Vampires” transpired from this real-life experience.

All of Zlotnik’s books can be found on Amazon. He advises people to go to Amazon.com and search on his name.
