Kent Boyd performed in the finals of FOXís ďSo You Think You Can Dance.Ē Kelly Byers of The Lima News caught up with Boyd after the show. Hereís their conversation:
TLN: Anything you want to say to your hometown?
Kent Boyd: I just want to say ďhiĒ to all the Botkins graduates of 2010, and just everyone at home and everyone at the dance studio and all my teachers and everyone there. Everyone on my soccer team, and everyone at the pool. I just would like to thank them for all that theyíve done.
TLN: The winner gets a quarter million dollars; do you know what you'd spend it on?
Kent Boyd: I donít know. I mean, I kind of take it day by day. But I mean, I feel like if I did win, I would help out, definitely a lot with my school and definitely donating a lot of money for the arts because thatís where I want more kids to be involved because thatís what I love. So, Iíd like to share that and hopefully, you know, just get more stuff going on at the school, because itís such a small school, and they just donít have the funding.
And definitely the studio and definitely, Iíll find good use for it, but definitely I'll save it and be smart.
TLN: So you've followed your fatherís advice of being true to your roots?
Kent Boyd: Yeah, definitely. I think that really made me different from everyone, that Iím from such a small town.
TLN: You've said the prom dance routine with Lauren (Froderman) was a favorite. Is that one you hope makes the tour?
Kent Boyd: I do hope that makes the tour, definitely. Itís just one of my favorites because I love dancing with Lauren, and weíre both the same age, and we just graduated from high school, so weíre really on the same level in life, and sheís just so fun to be around.
