LIMA - The Village of Fort Shawnee will be the beneficiary of a $480,300 federal-state grant to connect the Indian Village Mobile Home Park to Allen County’s wastewater system.

The Ohio Department of Development’s Office of Community Development announced the Community Development Block Grant on Monday. The program provides grants for improvements to water and sanitary sewer systems so communities can provide residents with safe and reliable water sources.

The money will be awarded to Allen County. The county will install 7,805 linear feet of sewer line. The project is estimated to cost $960,676 and will benefit 136 households.

The Office of Community Development, a division of the Ohio Department of Development’s Community Services Division, provides financial and technical assistance to units of local government and nonprofit organizations in Ohio for project activities that benefit low- and moderate-income citizens.
