DAYTON — A Lima pastor was picked up during a prostitution bust late Friday and his arrest was broadcast on Dayton television.
Dayton television station WDTN reported Friday that John Perkins, 60, was arrested during a prostitution sting at about 8 p.m. Friday.
Perkins is pastor at First Church of the Nazarene, 300 W. Elm St., Lima.
The arrest took place after Perkins tried to hire a prostitute for $100, according to Dayton Police Department officials. The first contact took place on the Internet, then Perkins reportedly drove to Dayton to meet what he thought was a prostitute at a Dayton hotel. The woman was actually a female officer with the Dayton Police Vice Unit.
Perkins was taken to the Montgomery County Jail after the arrest. The Dayton television station broadcast his walk into the jail on its evening news.
A spokesman for the Dayton Police Department said Saturday he could not provide information about what Perkins was charged with or when he will be arraigned.
