Berger boasts of Lima's green efforts
Comments 0 | Recommend 0LIMA - Lima Mayor David Berger proved it's "easy to be green" at Friday morning's Wake, Rattle and Roll program, held at the Veterans Memorial Civic Center.
Berger's speech on energy saving initiatives concluded with a summary of Lima's annual savings of energy and disposal costs, an eye-opening $1,378,000.
"It's important for me to convey that the City of Lima is very involved in green activities," Berger said, "which includes both reducing our resources and improving the impact they have on the earth."
Berger's speech highlighted five major areas of improvement within the city: transportation, lighting, wastewater, pollution control and solid waste.
Other keynote speakers at the program included Lt. Pat Gehrisch of the Ohio State Patrol, Pete Dorley of Keystone Brand Meats, Kathy Luhn from the Allen County Health Department and Carl Bornhorst of Historic Landmarks of Allen County.
