Regional Roundup: Lima woman hopes to raise awareness of abuse
LIMA — Since her freshman year at college, Debbie Alderman found herself in an abusive relationship. She ended that relationship last Valentine’s Day and wrote a song called “The Last Time.” That song is now part of a music video to raise awareness about domestic abuse.
“I wrote the song last February into March after the break up,” Alderman said.
With her video production background from school, Alderman decided to create a video. She wrote, produced and directed the video. It will air on Vimeo.com on Valentine’s Day.
The music video is about several girls who appear to be victims of abusive relationships. Throughout the video, they end up ripping up signs symbolic of the relationships. Delphos resident David Odenweller and Alderman sing her song on the video.
Alderman hopes to increase awareness of abusive relationships and help those in such relationships realize it is a problem.
Alderman is a junior at Bowling Green State University. She attended Lima Central Catholic High School and is the daughter of Tim and Irene Alderman, of Elida.

Trilogy residents in Wii bowling tournament
LIMA — Residents at Lima’s Springview Manor, Beaverdam’s Richland Manor, the Meadows of Ottawa, Leipsic and Kalida, and Heritage in Findlay participated in the Trilogy Health Service Community’s annual Wii bowling tournament held in January. This tournament was open to all Trilogy Health Services Community facilities in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan.
There were 63 participating facilities competing. Last year, the bowling residents of Springview Manor made the finals.
“The residents did not place this year. Our main bowler became ill and had to go to the hospital,” said Kelli DeLong, community services representative at Springview Manor.
The Wii game system has been incorporated in the therapy program and activity program at all Trilogy Health Services Communities. A facility in Willard too first place.
Staffs at the facilities also competed against one another. Springview Manor’s staff placed third. Staff members included Dustin Theis, Jayna Fry and Charlene King.
