Police investigate shooting late Wednesday in Lima

LIMA— Investigators in Lima were looking into what led to a man being shot in a Lima apartment late Wednesday.

Detective Kent Miller, of the Lima Police Department, said Angelo Wiggins, 21, of Ada, was shot once following an argument in an apartment in the 1800 block of North Cole Street shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday.

“Basically, there was an altercation between subjects that all knew one another. An individual ended up getting shot,” Miller said. “It appears he was shot just once. He'll survive this. I guess I would call them serious injuries.”

Wiggins was taken first to St. Rita's Medical Center and then transferred to a Columbus-area hospital, Miller said. Miller said he didn't know Wiggins' condition.

“We're not certain what happened,” Miller said. “We've got a couple different theories but we still haven't been able to talk to everyone involved.”

As of Thursday, no arrests or charges had been filed and no one was in custody related to the shooting, Miller said.

Miller said investigators were working to determine who fired the shot.
