Two arrested in credit union robbery
Police seek connection with Lima Central Catholic bomb threat
LIMA - A Lima man and woman were arrested in connection with Friday's robbery at Superior Federal Credit Union on East Kibby Street and may be connected to at least one other robbery, according to Lima Police Department officials.
Lt. Jim Baker said Devonne Wilson, 24, was charged with aggravated robbery and Raeleshia McWay, 19, was charged with obstructing justice.
Baker said Wilson was likely connected to the Chase Bank robbery on North West Street on March 9, and the bomb threat called into Lima Central Catholic High School that same morning.
"We are looking at that," Baker said. "That is certainly a possibility. At this point it looks that way."
Baker couldn't say if the suspects might be connected to the Jan. 27 Chase Bank robbery in Cridersville, referring that question to the Cridersville Police Department.
"I'm working with Lima, reviewing what they have and what we have to see if there's something there, but right now, there's nothing new on our bank robbery," Cridersville Police Chief John Drake said.
Shawnee Township Police Chief Mike Keith could not be reached Thursday to comment on any connection to robberies his department is investigating.
Ken Paige State Farm Insurance Agency at 1075 Shawnee Road was robbed Jan. 26 and F&L Jewelry at 1151 Shawnee Road was robbed Jan. 24.
The robberies were similar and investigators said they believe were done by the same two men, Keith said at the time.
Baker said other suspects are still being sought and police officials would like to talk to anyone who was in or near the credit union around 4 p.m. Friday.
Wilson and McWay were arrested earlier this week as part of an intense investigation, Baker said.
"We really literally have been working almost nonstop on this," he said.
"You have a bank full of people on a Friday afternoon and the brazen act of doing that concerns you that it could get worse."
Witnesses are asked to call 419-227-4444.
"We're really, really hoping that people that were at the bank, and we have talked to some, but I know we've missed some," Baker said. "If they would just call us. Whether they were right before, during or right after."
