When Activate Allen County launched its efforts almost two years ago, the leadership team had a vision of what a healthy Allen County might look like.
Now, they are asking county residents to share their vision.
Activate Allen County is hosting a photo contest for all Allen County residents. The goal is to gather pictures in three categories that illustrate what a healthy Allen County can look like.
The categories include:
• Active Transportation — the Good and the Bad — Capture the good and bad examples of active transportation in the county. That can include everything from kids on a bike path and safe walking routes (good), to dangerous cross walks or that too-easily-found image of someone riding a bike the wrong way on a narrow street.
• Breastfeeding — A Family Affair — We know that successful breastfeeding requires support from family and others. Send us photos that illustrate how your family or even your workplace is supporting your decision to breastfeed.
• Breathe Clean — Get us pictures of places that you would like to see go smoke-free. That can be your favorite park, an apartment complex or maybe even your own home.
To enter, email your photos to firstname.lastname@example.org. Or, if you still shoot with film, drop off a copy to the Activate offices in the Y annex, 136 S. West St., Lima. Our favorite entries will be included in a gallery show at the Meeting Place this September. The top photo in each category will receive a $100 price, courtesy of the Council for the Arts of Greater Lima.
