For 33 years I have been a kindergarten teacher at Perry Elementary School. Although I am at the end of my teaching career, my love for the children at this school drives me to let the community of Perry know why they should approve a new school.
The time is now. The state has offered to pay 52 percent of our building project. If we wait the amount will decrease. The building is old and really needs renovation in many ways. It is crucial to take advantage of this offer.
Technology is the key to our future. Our current building cannot provide what the students need. Common Core Standards have great potential, but teachers and students need the necessary tools and resources to make implementation a success. We don't want the children of Perry to lack in the area of technology.
The school is definitely the heart of the community and what a tremendous opportunity we have in front of us. If your children are grown and you no longer have a connection, pay it forward like others did when your children attended Perry. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support.
