It has been 34 years ago that I first came to Perry Schools as an art teacher. When I started my career as an educator I was nervous and unsure of what the Perry people would be like, how I would be treated, and what were the influences on their children.
All of my pre-conceived notions of what I thought Perry was like were blown away by the very first day. I have been impressed with the support, concern and help of the Perry Community. I can call a student's parents and actually get support in the classroom. I have former students, and business leaders generously donating their time and resources into my art class! I'm teaching my third generation of students and I am constantly amazed at the respect, love and eagerness there is to participate in my classroom.
In my tenure at Perry I have had art rooms in both buildings at the same time and had to run back and forth between buildings. The students have had to dot his also for classes and to go to lunch. With the passage of our levy this problem would be permanently eliminated. The buildings would be connected. This would add to the safety and our campus would be more secure.
Please vote for our levy.
