It is our intention to give a few thoughts on why you should support the Perry Elementary Bond Issue.
First, let me say that you should not listen to the foolish papers distributed by some person or persons who can't put their name on them. They have put out information that is not true and confuses the voters.
Get the facts.
The current building dates back 81 years. That means that many of the pipes are buried under the building and the plumbing under the school and in the walls and electrical lines embedded in the walls are difficult, if not impossible, to get at to repair. This also means disrupting the school and costing the taxpayers much money.
The current building is not easily accessible to those with a permanent disability or those with a temporary handicap. There are many sets of steps that makes maneuvering a wheelchair and getting about with a walker, crutches, or a cane almost impossible. The steps have already cost the district money from falls taken when they are wet.
The current building is not ready for new requirements for technology that the state is putting on the districts and the cost it would be to try to get it ready.
Let's take advantage of our tax dollars that the state is willing to return to us and build up the Perry community. We have voted for ourselves by voting for fire, EMS and police levies, so why not vote for our children? A strong school system will help boost the value of our homes and land. Let's vote for our community and say yes to the school issue.
