It was a shock to see that less than a week ago we were broke. Then, on the front page, an article about trying to get back in good grace with Pakistan, we are going to give them $1.6 billion to help them, as they feel we should have let them know when the Navy Seal team was going to come in and capture Osama bin Laden.


I guess he is their national hero.


Our government is thinking backward. It was Osama bin Laden whose plans killed 3,000 Americans in the World Trade Center towers. And what was the cost of buildings and clean up? They should owe the U.S.


We should get some big changes in Washington as this is not the way our Congress and president should be thinking. We have been trying to be friends with people who hate us and any thinking person knows you cannot buy friends. We have been trying to do that with Egypt, now he is all with Turkey.


As for this foreign aid, it started as the Marshall Plan to get war-torn nations back on their feet and it might last for 15 or 20 years. Now, more than 60 years later, we are giving aid to more than 190 countries and we are the main supporter of the U.N. We are quick to do this for the rest of the world.


Chicago rule was you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. When do we think of the veterans who have fought for our nation and the Social Security retirees, who have been great citizens to America and would like a balanced budget?
