WBL rejects Lima Senior bid to join league

Spartans likely to be "independent" in 2011

Lima Senior's athletic teams could be playing as independents again, starting with the 2011 season, with at least one team and maybe as many as four, leaving the Greater Buckeye Conference.

Napoleon High School was accepted into the Northern Lakes League on Tuesday and will leave the GBC behind after the 2009-2010 school year.

Greater Buckeye Conference members Sandusky, Marion Harding and Fremont Ross are also exploring switching leagues.

With the break-up of its league on the horizon, Lima Senior asked about the possibility of joining the Western Buckeye League earlier this year, but was told it was not interested in expanding.

Lima Senior also contacted the Ohio Cardinal Conference but was told that league did not want to add any teams at this time.
