WHETSTONE TOWNSHIP — On Monday morning, Sheriff Scott Kent and three deputies responded to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Monnett-New Winchester Road and State Route 100.

Preliminary information gathered at the scene indicates that Kevin Buchanan, Galion, was northbound on SR 100 in a Ford F-250 and pulling a trailer. William P. Noble, Jr., Mansfield, was westbound on Monnett New Winchester Road in a Chevy Cobalt, approaching the intersection. Noble failed to yield right of way at the intersection and was struck in the driver’s side by Buchanan’s vehicle. Both vehicles went off the northwest side of the intersection into a planted field, then came to rest.

Med Flight was dispatched to the scene and Buchanan was flown to OSU Hospital in Columbus. Noble was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No other information is available at this time. The crash remains under investigation.

Also on the scene was Whetstone Township Volunteer Fire Department, Lifestar Ambulance, Crawford County Coroner Dr. Michael Johnson and Knecht’s Towing.
