AMERICAN TOWNSHIP — Traffic got rather thick on Elida Road after two two-car accidents occurred Wednesday morning.

Sgt. Randy Mason, with the American Township Police Department, said his department got a call at 10:30 a.m. about the accidents. The police were handling the accidents as two separate incidents.

A car was traveling west on Elida Road and was turning into the Humane Society of Allen County when a second car rear-ended the first. That caused the first car to hit a third car. While the second car was stopped in the road, a fourth car hit the second car.

The driver of the first car was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center with minor injuries. Names weren’t immediately available.

Traffic was rerouted onto East Road and then back onto Elida Road.
