Second teen pleads guilty in rape case

LIMA — A second Lima-area teenager changed his plea in a sexual assault case, pleading guilty Thursday in Allen County Juvenile Court to delinquency by rape, a first-degree felony.

Judge Glenn Derryberry of Juvenile Court dismissed a second felony charge of complicity to commit rape against Malcolm Glenn, accepting a plea deal arranged by Allen County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Christina Steffen and defense attorney Anthony VanNoy, of Dayton.

Derryberry ordered Glenn to enroll in the rehabilitation program at the Juvenile Detention Center of West Central Ohio in Troy.

Glenn and a juvenile co-defendant, Jordan Henderson, pleaded not guilty Nov. 28 before Derryberry to identical charges of rape and complicity.

On Jan. 12, Henderson, 17, pleaded guilty to complicity in a similar plea arrangement. A Jan. 12 change-of-plea hearing also had been scheduled for Glenn, but that hearing was continued to Thursday when his attorney was delayed out of town by another case and winter weather conditions.

According to a narrative entered as part of the guilty plea, Glenn and Henderson drove to Spencerville in the pre-dawn hours of Nov. 13, where they contacted a woman friend of Glenn's at her home. The woman joined the two teens in the back seat of their car, where the men took turns having sexual intercourse with her, restraining her arms at times, in spite of the woman saying no and resisting.

Both Glenn and Henderson admitted they were aware the woman said no several times and began crying while they continued the sexual assault.

Both defendants remained in custody of the Allen County Juvenile Detention Facility on Thursday while they were being processed for admission into rehabilitation programs.

Glenn was a standout varsity basketball player last year as a freshman at Perry High School.
